Drums

First off, a disclaimer to the people who normally read my blog (Adam and Cara) this post will be of no interest to you so you may as well stop now. Carrying on. Much has happened in my world of drums today/yesterday. Let's just say my entire concept of playing the drums has completely changed. It all began by reading the June issue of modern drummer magazine, the focus of which was on co-ordination. And I must say the interview with Marco Minnemann has changed my life. All conventional ideas of drumming I had before are now replaced by a new wellspring of musical creativity. I am now working on the hardest beat I have ever devised for my self. Let's just say it involves the left side of my body playing a paradiddle broken up between left hand and left foot, while my right side carries a beat in 4/4. It will blow my mind when I cn actually play it up to speed. speaking of speed I'm on it. right now. Actually I regained some control over my feet and can now play upwords of 220 bpm.

That's all for now I guess...

Introspection

Over the last couple of days I've realized that my life follows a very specific schedule, and some days of the week never fail to be amazing. I start the week and it's kind of blah, you know with start of school and all that. But hit Wednesday and things kick off expenetially. Shipment day. Two words that are party worthy. Every Wednesday without fail me and my good friend Adam (read his reviews at thebrowncoat.blogspot.com) and I head on down to Big Pete's, our local comic book store, and the day is filled with comic books and our brainstorming ideas for either The Foundation, our revolutionary comic book we are writing, or the comic book store we will one day open. Merryment ensues.

Then when Friday rolls around the browncoats club meets up and we watch anywhere from 1-17 episodes of one of Joss Whedon's masterpieces, currently we're on Angel season 1, followed as of late by a movie by the second greatest director in the world: Kevin Smith. Cheerio mix abounds and the laughter of small children rings out throughout the house.

I bring this up because after having just gotten back from the latest installment of the Browncoats club, I saw something that possibly changed my future. That thing was a movie, THE movie...Clerks 2. For those of you familar with this movie think back to the end...prison...after watching the inter-species erotica show. Anyways, what Randall said during this scene made so much sense to me. To paraphrase he talked about living ones life according to what makes sense to that individual, rather than societies conventional views on how you should live life. And yes, while I am aware this is the theme for 50% of all self help books, and you here it day in and out from everyone around you, it sounds so much more sincere and powerful coming from a fictional character that hires beastiality performers than any of these so called "life doctors". Anyways, yes, this what goes through my mind on a Saturday morning. And as I sit here listening to Tool and dipping Oreo's in applesauce (delicious) I have realized that yes, I am able to be both a rock star and a comic book store owner. Fuck you society.

Introduction To My Life

Hmmmm...so this is what blogging is all about eh? That's right I say eh. Deal with it. Since this is my first attempt at blog please excuse me if I do something wrong. I don't know maybe blogs have etiquete or some shit like that. As you can see from my blog name the 2 most important things in my life that can explain why I do what I do are Drums and Comics. See I combined them together 'cause I'm clever... ... ...love me. In any case I shall use this blog to discuss these things and whatever the fuck else I feel like talking about. SCREW YOU!!! Sorry, I do that alot. I would have liked to use this to reflect on any quandry's I come across or discussing the cosmos with you, but alas, I'm just plain not intelligent enough to. In fact right now I'm wondering why Rhubarb is sour along with whatever happened to the show whose line is it anyway? But until I find an answer I must journey forward into the ever darkening abyss that is my life, until I too, sucumb to horrors of mainstream pop.

Long live odd time signatures.
